With great snow, ice, and ski conditions all over the island there is no excuse to stat inside. The Newfoundland snowkite school is in full swing.
If you have not tried snowkiting yet, you have no idea how much fun you are missing. Make it your new year’s resolution. It’s one of the most rewarding and freeing experiences you can have. You can book a Snowkite lesson with the Newfoundland Kite School anytime by calling Marty Hanzalek at 709-763-7433. Martin Hanzalek offer’s both beginner flying lessons as well as full day beginner “zero to hero” programs.
Funny thing, Martin.. I was looking for info about kite surfing after moving back to St. John’s from B.C and found your blog on snow kiting! Myself and my wife met you on the West Coast a few years back (she’s from Corner Brook) when we went River rafting. It never occurred to me that you could snow-kite, I always thought of kiting as belonging to a surfboard. I guess you learn something new every day! Anyways, my wife and I will definitely be in touch so that we can try this out. Zero to hero sounds about what we’re looking for! Take Care Martin and good luck!

I took a free snowkite intro lesson from Martin Hanzalek during the Pippy Park snowkite event last Valentine’s day and really enjoyed the experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Marty as a kiting instructor to anyone looking to get into the sport. Thanks for the great experience!
Snowkiting is a great way to get around on wind power. In the Lewis Hills you can cover a 100+km plateau easily in a day by harnessing the power of the wind. Kites are a great way to get around because they can be used to go downwind, upwind, and just about anywhere you want to go.
