St. John’s Farmer’s Market
The garlic at the farmers market may be $0.40 more expensive, but it’s a thousand times better. The salad greens may be $1 more be bag, but they are grown with organic love instead of in a production farm on the US/Mexican boarder. It just takes one bite of a local tomato or one BBQ with grass fed beef to turn even the most diehard superstore shopper onto a local food specialist. People try to cut their carbon footprint with electric bikes or public transport but often times we forget the carbon footprint we make by buying food out of our local area. Those Dole Strawberries come 3000 miles on a diesel truck but the ones from eastpoart organics are grown just down the street. Healthy, tasty, and good for the planet. Next time I shop I know those will be my top motivator.

Newfoundland Ebike
One of our favorite destinations when cruising St., John’s on an electric bike is to visit the local Farmer’s Market on Saturdays to pick up some local organic produce. It’s a sure fire way to limit your ecological footprint http://martinhanzalek.wordpress.com/organic-food/
Looking forward to buying lots of organic produce this fall. I would love to visit Eastport Organics but right now I am limited to shopping at the Farmer’s Market in St. John’s (which really isn’t limited at all). Will Eastport Organics have a booth there again this year during October?
